I would think that you all would have no problem with a book theme. Just dig into your archive and send me a link (and a description) to a book review or whatever that's related to books. As of now, I only have four entries.

BTW, the theme for next week's Carnival is favorite TV show or movie.

Announcement: A search engine for women

Michelle of scribbit has created a search engine that searches the blogs of women:

It's a custom search engine powered by Google that searches select blogs on parenting, crafts, cooking, gardening and blogs by women. Normally when you search for a word or phrase Google returns millions of results, displaying the most popular based on their magic algorithms. For my custom search engine I have narrowed Google's parameters so that a search here will only return results from the blogs I've specified.

What does this mean?

Say you're writing a post on helping your child learn to read and would like to add to what others have written on the subject, by searching with this custom search engine you'd learn what Thrifty Mommy, Play Library, Rocks in My Dryer, Izzy Mom or the other thousand blogs on parenting have to say on the subject.

I won't be doing any Blogging Chicks business until next week

I'm going to be overwhelmed for the next few days ( if you are interested in why, you can read about it here). I'm taking this week off from the Carnival and we will have a theme Carnival next week, March 10th. You pick the theme. Leave me your choice of theme in the comment section.

There is a wide diversity of opinion and beliefs on this blogroll and I'm trying to create an atmosphere in which everyone feels comfortable here. I would ask that you refrain from using incendiary language on the Metablog. Let's respect each other's right to believe what we want to believe, at least here on the Metablog.

BTW, I know I'm late on switching to the headlines from the new featured blog and I promise to give you extra time because of it. You'll have a month on the Metablog to make up for it.

Sorry the Carnival was late this week, I fell asleep! I should never have started a new blogroll and two new networks (if you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the previous posts) when I also have a really bad cold and recovering from surgery. Too much! And just as I was putting the finishing touches on it, I messed the whole thing up and had to start again!

Switching to Beta Blogger

I know that it's no longer called Beta but for the purposes of this post, I'm calling it that. I've gotten a number of emails from people who have switched from Blogger to Beta and then lose the blogroll in the switch. I have no problem resending the code but I'm concerned that you might not remember everything that you had in your sidebar, so I thought I would offer a suggestion. Before you switch save your template by copying it into a text program like Notepad. Then you can copy the code from your sidebar to your new blog.

If you switched recently before you saved a copy of your template, you could Google your blog name, then select "Cached." BTW, this is a good trick to use if you messed up your sidebar and didn't back it up recently, an old copy of your blog is still available via Google (that's what "cached" means). This happened to me recently, I had made some additions to my sidebar a couple weeks previously and I went to replace a comment in my sidebar, not knowing that my stupid touchpad had selected everything below the comment and I deleted everything and then saved my template without verifying that it was ok. I was able to get the code back by googling my blog, then selecting "Cached" and then right click on mouse and select "View Page Source" from the menu. Then I just copied the sidebar material that was missing.
